The context of Agua Alma helps us rise above the common
dominance of the cognitive processes, calling all the parts of us into
presence, and into connection with all things. This oneness is the soul-level
experience. The soul-level experience, at those special moments when
we align with it, provides a link to the causal level, wherein lies
the root of much dis-ease--including the physical, emotional, and the
spiritual.
As one gains experience in calling forth the soul, one's essence anchors
more on the soul, less on the ego. As this process develops, one looks
for the signs of soul-presence in decision-making. One begins to gain
awareness, even in simple daily decisions, whether the soul-field is
enlivened or depleted by one's life choices. Thus, skill is gained in
navigating one's soul's purpose.
On soul:
Larry Dossey, MD, from "Recovering the Soul"
"immortal...here, there, everywhere, Extending to the farthest
reaches of the cosmos...Enveloping all minds and all persons...Timeless...beyond
death...Existing at all moments, Including all of the past and all of
the future, Forever and forever... this is a portrait of everyone who
has ever lived."
David LaChapelle, author of "Navigating the Tides of Change"
"Our souls awaken to the cultivation of their presence in our everyday
lives. By becoming sensitive to the energetic reality that supports
the expression of our lives we can gain more joy, wisdom, courage, compassion
and clarity of action."
Thomas Moore, "Care of the Soul":
"Beauty is one of the signs of the soul."
Clarissa Pinkola Estes: (from "Archetype of the Wild Woman"
audio tape, paraphrased)
"Soul is where the vertical and the horizontal axis of the cross
meet. It is the same symbology, be it the Christian cross, the Celtic
cross, or the Native American four-directions symbol. The vertical axis
is the direct line between heaven and earth, the spiritual axis. The
horizontal axis is the physical plane, normal waking reality. Where
the two meet is the realm of the soul."
Patricia Kaminski and Richard Katz, from the Flower Essence
Repertory, on "IRIS",
" It is the soul's mission to build a rainbow bridge between spirit
and matter. The pure light of the spirit needs to be ensouled, or colored
with feeling. The rich darkness of matter needs to become luminous and
filled with inner meaning. This is the path of the artist, and it is
really true that every soul should express itself as an artist. As the
physical body needs air to breathe, so does the soul need inspiration
in order to live. As the physical body circulates blood in order to
nourish itself, so does the soul live through the streaming and weaving
of radiant color (and luscious liquid movement--parenthesis added by
Zia). Many modern individuals lack soul vitality; a gray pallor stifles
them, they suffocate in the mundane and mechanical."
